What is LNG ❓
Liquefied natural gas or LNG is natural gas in its liquid form when natural gas is cooled to minus 259 degree fahrenheit i.e (-167 )degree Celsius it becomes a clear colorless odorless liquid.
During the process known as liquefaction natural gas is cooled below its boiling point removing most of these components the remaining natural gas is primarily methane with only small amounts of other hydrocarbons.
What are the properties of LNG ❓
LNG is neither corrosive nor toxic. Natural gas is primarily methane with low concentrations of other hydrocarbons water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen ,Oxygen and some sulphur compounds LNG veg less than half the weight of water so it will float if spilled on water.
Liquification is done for easy storage and transportation LNG achieves a higher production in volume than CNG
A majority of the world's LNG supplies come from countries with large natural reserve so there is a possibility of India that it can become self sufficient in the crude oil
So in order to achieve the goal of atma nirbhar Bharat ,India is trying our best to reduce the burden on oil imports.
